Archibald Forbes papers [manuscript], 1895, undated.

In an essay "An adventurous ride, " Forbes recounts his experience of the battle of Ulundi, July 4, 1879, and an incident in which he served as a dispatch rider for Lord Chelmsford through Zulu territory. In a letter,1895 Apr 19, to S. S. McClure, Forbes proposes to follow up on McClure's 1891 request back for an article about "The War of the Future." Offers for publication the enclosed copy of a never-before-published letter from Sheridan to Grant [not present] Includes a picture of Forbes clipped from a periodical. In a letter 1895 Jul 3 to McClure, Forbes ompliments the quality of the magazine for its price and requests the use of his previously published article "My Servants on Campaign" for a book of reminiscences he is putting together. Mentions his new article on Bismarck which McClure might like to publish and comments negatively on Fitz Lee's recent article on Warfare of the Future.
