Bernard collection, 1848-1890.

The collection consists of six deeds, a map, and two scrapbooks. The deeds include one signed by Crawford W. Long. Many of the deeds are specifically about property located on Waddell St. in Athens, Georgia. The scrapbooks contain miscellaneous materials such as newspaper clippings, obituaries, poetry, two Confederate bills (money) and several items pertaining to Athens and the University of Georgia.

Crawford Long, a Georgia native, received his education at Franklin College (University of Georgia). He completed his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania in 1839. After a short time in New York, Dr. Long returned to Georgia and spent his entire career there as a physician and surgeon.
