Jay Eslick was born in Spokane, Washington on August 31, 1901, and in the 1920's became a drummer and bandleader in the Pacific Northwest. By 1928 he had joined a band in Tijuana and subsequently became a popular bandleader in San Diego. He appeared on local television in the late 1950s and early 1950s, and encouraged young people to pursue music as a career. Eslick died on April 9, 1961.
