Anton Reiff journal, 1856.

Journal written while on tour with the Pyne and Harrison Opera Company records impressions of steamboat travel on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers; visits to Cairo, Memphis, Baton Rouge, Natchez, New Orleans, Mobile, Vicksburg, St. Louis, Washington, D.C. and other cities; theatrical performances attended; railroad travel; slavery; local customs; and the landscape. Also discussed is a conversation with a Mexican Army veteran about generals in that war.
