Civil War cartoon album, 1861.

Bound volume of 400 envelopes with printed caricatures of the South from the Northern point of view. Smith collected the envelopes, which depict such subjects as politics, finances, trade, warfare, morals, race relations, and leaders, e.g. Jefferson Davis and General G.T. Beauregard. Most cartoons show the printer's name.
