A group of about 200 Christmas and New Year's cards sent to Ruel P. and Nelly Tolman and their daughter Sarah, of Washington, D.C.; those with dates are from 1921-1935. There are a few illustrated with religious themes, some with Santa Claus, but most have winter scenes, candles, trees, people celebrating the season, or home settings; one features airplanes. A small group of cards depicts dogs, mostly Scotties. One card is a photo of the senders taken in front of an Egyptian pyramid. Two cards show buildings in Washington, D.C. Most of the cards extend Christmas or Season's Greetings; a few are New Years cards. Some envelopes and postcards have American Lung Association Christmas Seals on them. Two envelopes are decorated on the inside to coordinate with the enclosed card, another envelope has silver stars, but most envelopes were not kept. One card had nine stickers laid inside it, with various Christmas themes decorating them.
