[Journal of a trip from Enfield, Conn. to Shaker communities in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. ca. 1850].

The trip that is covered in this journal lasted from August 26-October 8, most likely in 1850. The writer notes on September 27: "this season the[y] have put up a large building (60x40) for an office," referring to a North Family building that was constructed in 1850 at the Enfield, N.H. Shaker community. She also mentions a recently constructed stone machine shop at Enfield that took the place of another that was consumed by fire in 1849. The communities visited were at Shirley and Harvard, Mass., Alfred and Sabbathday Lake, Maine, and Enfield and Canterbury, N.H. At the end of the volume is a hymn with music.
