Designs for furniture, ca. 1890-1900.

The collection contains drawings, some in pencil, a few in watercolor, but many in ink, of various furniture and architectural forms: bedsteads, chests of drawers, desks, sideboards, tables, chairs, clocks, bookcases, mantels, easels, pianos, mirrors, hall trees, etc. A few designs include prices, dimensions, or customers' names. Decorative objects are shown on a number of pieces of furniture, such as china in china cabinets, books in bookcases, and pincushions, a collar, and various jars and vases on chests of drawers. As well, there are some photographs of furniture, mostly tables, but also a sideboard and a couple of chairs. Among the drawings are some designs for ads or trade cards, one for Keeler & Co., and three for Small himself. Lastly, the collection also includes some miscellaneous pages from art and builders' magazines.
