Estate inventories, 1847.

For William and Edward, there is an inventory and monetary appraisal of their "goods, chattles, and personal estate," done on September 30, 1847. Also, there are several copies of the results of the sales of their estates, which took place on October 27, 1847. The sales lists include the purchasers' names, the amount for which the goods sold, and the amount for which the goods were originally appraised. There is no indication of who did the appraisals or who conducted the sales. The inventories list livestock, crops, guns, wood, farm equipment, harnesses, wagons, bridles, fishing boats and nets, household goods (furniture, tableware, pots and pans, etc.), and three slaves owned by William Thompson. (There is, however, no record of the sale of the slaves on October 27.) Personal items, such as clothing or combs, are not included in the inventory. Some of the items are designated as being joint property, indicating that the two men were farming and fishing together.
