Albert Granley Interview 19 January 2007.

Albert Granley was born June 29, 1914 to Ole Granley and Sarah Lueken Granley in a log cabin on the family homestead near Bainville, Mont. Albert attended country school before transferring to Bainville to finish his education. He graduated from Bainville high school in 1933. Mr. Granley joined the Montana National Guard at the age of fifteen. During the Great Depression, he traveled the Montana Hi-Line working the sugar beet harvest near Chinook and then returning to Bainville to assist his father with the harvest. Albert worked sporadically on Fort Peck Dam 1934-1935. Two years later, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked at a camp near Missoula. He married Alice Christine Sundquist on November 22, 1939 in Gonvick, Minnesota where they resided for a year before moving back to the Granley homestead. Upon returning to the Bainville area, they raised five children (three girls and two boys) and continued operating the Granley family farm. Alice passed away on January 19, 2001 in Bainville. Albert died August 28, 2008 in Culbertson, Mont. (OH 2227).
