Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H. Phillip Deidesheimer was a mining engineer in California, Nevada, and Montana, who developed and popularized the square set method of timbering mines. Deidesheimer was the first superintendent of the St. Louis Montana Gold and Silver Mining Company. In 1864 he settled in what was to become Philipsburg, Montana, named in his honor.
