The office of vice president for Academic Affairs was created in 1959 when S. T. Keim was appointed. W. A. (Bill) Baker joined the administrative staff of UTA in 1971 as Dean of the Graduate School. He served as acting director of the Institute of Urban Affairs, 1971-1972.
