William Griffith Jones papers, 1872-1906.

Primarily family correspondence (some letters in Welsh) but include 32 letters from E.H. Griffen and his wife, Emily (Oregon pioneers), and letters, 1891-1892, from the San Marcos Land Company, San Diego Co., and Bardsdale Lands, Ventura Co., California. Also, a few letters of condolence received by his widow and a few letters, 1919-1923, from nieces and nephews, received by his sister, Mary G. Jones.

Mary Gardiner Jones (1920-2010) was a Federal Trade Commissioner and attorney. Her family had a long history of public service dating back to the 17th century, including her aunt, Rosalie Jones, who was a Senator's wife and suffragette, and the first woman lawyer to pass the District of Columbia bar exam.
