Contents: Diary, 1832-1834; letters from John Dougherty, Indian Agent at St. Louis, 1834-1837; correspondence and reports, 1832-1839. Re his life as missionary and teacher of the Oto in Bellevue, Indiana Territory (now Nebraska). Also included: diary of his wife, Eliza Wilcox Merrill, and a printed memorial containing biographical information and the translation of scriptures in various Indian languages.
