Daily report of weather; comments on ships in Monterey harbor; activities in harbor loading her with lumber; voyage to Santa Barbara, December 20-25; fitting ship there for voyage to Sandwich Islands with cargo of 35 horses. Occasional mention of William G. Dana, her master. Continued, as a diary, by the same person, after the ship's departure for the Islands on January 29, until June 20, 1829, with reports on weather, activities building a schooner (the Santa Barbara?) for Dana, loading ships in Santa Barbara harbor. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
