John Swartwout letter, 1806 Apr. 5.

Letter from Colonel John Swartwout of New York, a political supporter of Aaron Burr, written to Ebenezer Foote referring to the business of his mercantile firm, and making an oblique reference to the Burr Conspiracy. Letter was written prior to the arrest in New Orleans of Swartwout's brother, Samuel, who was arrested because of his association with Burr in a western venture.
