Photographs and supporting correspondence collected by Carolyn Mattern in conjunction with an online exhibit about the Capitol fire of 1904. The correspondence was exchanged with people who had acquired furniture thought to be from the Capitol that was sold after the fire. One exchange is with Ida Sutton of Richland Center, the current owner of the Levi Bancroft house, including a photograph of a painting said to have been in the Capitol and a contemporary and historic photograph of the Bancroft house.
