Artist Rollin Kirby was born in Illinois, and studied art in New York and Paris. Initially an illustrator, he made his mark as an editorial cartoonist for the New York Mail, New York Post, and New York World. He became the leading political cartoonist of the Jazz Age, and won three Pulitzer Prizes in the 1920s. He also wrote plays and contributed articles to various periodicals.
