Samuel J. May invitation, [electronic resource] 1865.

Engraved invitation to ministers and their congregations to attend a meeting including a lecture in behalf of the African American freedmen, dated August 25th, 1865. The invitation is from J.R. Shipherd, Secretary, F.A.C. (Freedmen's Aid Commission). On the verso are notes of agenda items for a meeting, possibly the same meeting, apparently in May's hand.
