This collection of four geological reports concerns iron deposits in four ore regions of Pennsylvania: Mont Alto, Somerset County, and Pine-Grove Iron Furnace, all written by Lesley in 1864, and Fayette County (Oliphant or Fairchance Iron Company), 1872, written by Kimball. The Somerset County report assesses resources other than iron ore, and includes contributions by Henry D. Rogers and Walter R. Johnson.
