Winnie Evans Byrd oral history interview, 1993.

In the interview Byrd discusses her first impressions of LSU; her decision to become a teacher; experiences as a student; Panhellenic Building and location of sorority rooms; ceremonies; involvement in student politics; impact of WWII on the student body; ROTC parades; graduation in the Greek Theater; involvement with Tri-Delta alumnae; and T. Harry Williams, Professor of History at LSU. Byrd also discusses the University's decision to allow the construction of sorority houses; she describes each step in the construction process of the Tri-Delta sorority house; including solicitation of donations; selection of A. Hays Town as architect; approval of house plans; costs; problems encountered; impact of sorority houses on the sororities; and changes in Sorority Row. She also gives her views on the role of sororities in the 1990s; impressions of LSU; and student teaching at the Lab School.
