Halbert and Satterfield family papers, 1814-1893 [manuscript].

Financial and legal materials, notebooks, clippings, and other materials relating to the Halbert and Satterfield families of Lincoln County, Tenn. Halbert papers, 1814-1865, are chiefly related to brothers John and James Halbert, who were planters, and include an 1865 letter from John to James's son, Pleasant Halbert (1811-1895), accounts, estate papers, wills, and tax receipts. Satterfield papers, 1853-1893, relate chiefly to physician, Benjamin M. Satterfield, who appears to have specialized in obstetrics, and include materials relating to Satterfield's medical practice in Lafayette and Lincoln County, Tenn.; his service as surgeon in the 25th Tennessee Regiment during the Civil War; his political involvement after medical discharge from service; and his activities in the Masons. There is also a small amount of material relating to other Satterfield family members.
