Black and white photographs of the Notre Dame campus buildings and landscape; faculty, students and their clubs, and administrators; sporting events such as baseball, football, and basketball games, along with portraits of the teams and coaches; scenes from dorms, classrooms, laboratories, and dining halls; the university farms; religious ceremonies; commencements and dedications; and other campus activities. Most of the 19th-century photographs were taken by professional photographers; many are studio portraits. The 20th-century photographs were primarily the work of amateurs, including students working for the Dome yearbook.
