Seybold was born in Topeka, Kan. in 1897 and graduated fron West Point in 1920. He pursued Army engineer studies and was on a 3 year tour in the Canal Zone during the 1920's. From 1934-38 he was with the Vicksburg Engineer District. He became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 1922, rose to Captain (1935), Major (1940), Lt.
