A misc. collection of papers and autograph letters, many written to or from lawyers, judges, and politicians. Among the many correspondents are Henry A.S. Dearborn, John and Abigail Adams, H. Orlando Alden, Ellis G. Loring, Peleg W. Chandler, and Joseph A. Gilmore. One topic heavily represented in the correspondence with Nathan Hale, Thomas Hopkinson, and Ginery Twitchell is the Boston and Worcester Railroad Corporation, in particular its legal dealings. Also, papers related to the history of Atkinson and Rockingham, N.H., deeds and other legal documents, and accounts of various kinds.
