Wallace was an attorney; law partner of Edward Peyson Gates; Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney, 1881-1885; ardent prohibitionist; Sabbatarian who led an effort to force businesses to close on Sundays; editor of The Citizen; Judge on the Jackson County Criminal Court at Kansas City, Missouri, 1907; and, most widely known as one of the prosecutors at the trial successfully prosecuting Alexander Franklin "Frank" James, 1883.
