Fifty five short biographies. They are mainly copied, with changes, from various sources: the biography of Shakespeare (p. 176-81) is a condensation of A. Pope's version (1725) of N. Rowe's "Some account of the life &c. of Mr. William Shakespear" (Shakespeare's Works, 1709).
