Civil War veteran and Texas pioneer. Born January 8, 1833 in Hall County, Georgia. Married Jamima Robertson, June, 1854. Served in the 18th Georgia Regiment during the Civil War. Afterwards moved to Marion County, Arkansas. Arrived in Menard, Texas in 1873. Opened sawmill. Later, Kitchens family established Irrigation and Manufacturing Company.
