On May 25, 1896 Katie Currie Muse organized the Texas Division in Victoria, Texas. The group worked to preserve the memory of those that had served in the Confederate armies and in commemorating historic locations, helped to fund the Confederate Home for Men, and the Confederate Women's Home, solicited financial donations for Southern history studies, and provided academic scholarships.
