Edward Asbury O'Neal papers, 1833-1908 [manuscript].

Legal, personal, and political correspondence of E. A. O'Neal. Most of the collection consists of Civil War letters among O'Neal, his two sons in the Confederate Army, and his wife at home in Florence, Ala.; postwar letters and papers relating to his law practice in Florence and Huntsville, Ala.; and correspondence concerning his two gubernatorial campaigns and Alabama politics, with very little concerning the U.S. presidental election of 1876. Volumes are chiefly scrapbooks of O'Neal's later political life.
