Papers, 1821-1851, including letters to David Rivers at Rivers Mills, Beaufort District, and other items, 1854-1859, relating to the settlement of his estate in Gillisonville, now in Jasper County, S.C. Rivers was apparently in the sawmilling business with David Cope (or Coope or Coape). There are 18 items, including deeds, letters, account sheets, warrants for surveys, a receipt for puchase of a slave, and other papers relating to property and other businesses of Rivers. Some of the letters also contain family and personal news. The twelve estate items include legal papers, tax receipts, accounting sheets, releases, a list of personal property sold, and other items. The widow was Anna Susannah Rivers of Prince William Parish. Robert L. Tillinghast handled her business.
