Approximately 18,500 safety negatives made up of aerial images of Mobile and several surrounding areas, as well as photographs of the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, the Azalea Trail, the local Salvation Army, several Miss Americas, the 1952 Senior Bowl, the 250th anniversary of the founding of Mobile, and local churches,schools, nurseries, clubs and organizations, hospitals (primarily the Mobile Infirmary), sports teams, slum clearance, banks, restaurants, hotels, television and radio stations, and other businesses. There are also a few images of Bellingrath Gardens, of the Dauphin Island Bridge construction, and of a labor strike in 1954, as well as wedding photographs and portraits of individuals. Some of the more well-known Mobilians in the portraits are Stephens Croom, Marsha Weinacker, Mike Kahalley, E.B. Ladd, Mrs. Arthur Outlaw, George Denniston, O.H. Delchamps, T.C. Van Antwerp, Jack Gallalee, Mrs. Leonard Metzger, Mrs. John Waterman, and E.B. Peebles. Other notable people found in the collection are Eddie Rickenbacker, Jack Cardwell,Mamie Van Doren, Bob Hope, Julian Rayford, and Tony Curtis. Also included in the collection are ca. 85 glass plate negatives that feature two images of McGill Institute, one of Providence Infirmary, several of the Church Street Cemetery, as well as photographs of ships, railroad scenes, the 1913 visit of President Woodrow Wilson, the aftermath of the 1906 hurricane, and local hotels, residences, and businesses. In addition there are approximately 115 nitrate negatives that include photographs of the aftermath of the 1916 hurricane, of the Spanish Fort Tourist Village, of Lyons Park, of Merchants National Bank, of Murphy High School, of a 1916 preparedness day rally, of the Bankhead Tunnel, and of a 1910 Confederate veterans parade, as well as images of local Mardi Gras parades and waterfront scenes.
