Henry Houston Patterson account books, 1880-1915.

Accounts of Henry H. Patterson with both customers and suppliers of his general store in Chapel Hill, N.C., along with accounts for other personal and business activities, 1882-1915, and one account book for F.A. Davis, Chapel Hill, 1880-1881. Patterson handled produce, groceries, general merchandise, notions, and other items. Customers with accounts included the University of North Carolina and some of its individual departments.

Henry Houston Patterson (1884-1917) was a general merchant in Chapel Hill, N.C. Patterson was born in Orange County, N.C., served in the Confederate Army, attended the University of North Carolina, 1866-1867, and was a farmer from 1867 to 1880, when he became a merchant.
