Documents and personal correspondence related to the Chastang family of Chastang and Bucks, Alabama. Most of the correspondence is written to or by Edward "Cuff" Chastang and Francis Zeno Chastang, but other correspondents include Edna J. Chastang, Arnetta C. Chastang, Louise Chastang, and Mary Chastang. Much of the material in the collection consists of invoices for goods bought and services rendered from numerous area merchants to the Chastangs. Religious and educational material also make up a large part of the collection, particularly books and periodicals related to the two subjects. The collection also contains a few, apparently family, photographs. One item in the collection of particular interest to researchers may be a letter from Everett and Boykin Naval Stores signed by Frank W. Boykin, former U.S. congressman. The collection also includes material related to the Knights of Peter Claver and the organization's founding in Mobile, Alabama.

As evidenced by material found in the collection, Edward and F.Z. Chastang appear to have been engaged in farming in rural Alabama, while another family member, V.S. Chastang, seems to have been involved in the business of monuments, granite, marble, and stone. The Chastangs were also apparently involved in, or had an interest in, the making of cigars.
