July 22, 1833 letter from missionary in Shawnee Village, Kansas mailed to Mr. Kerr and Mr. Cloud, Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from Independence, referencing the Shawnee Indian Mission in Kansas. The writer is attempting to describe life as a missionary, and tells how it is hard to keep silent about the cheating and debauching of the Indians by the Indian Agents.
