Thomas Holdsworth Blake was an attorney, U.S. congressman from Indiana, and Commissioner of the General Land Office. Blake was born in Maryland and studied law in Washington, D.C. where he was a member of the District of Columbia militia. During the War of 1812, his unit fought at the Battle of Bladensburg in 1814.
