This collection consists of the correspondence of Absalom and Jessie Shields Elliott from Decatur and Fulton Counties. Includes: a letter written in Minnesota by Absalom to another brother (Jasper) and sister (Kisiah) and from Charlotte Elliott to her brother, sister, father and mother (Jasper, Kisiah, James and Nancy) (2/19/1860); a letter written to A. Elliott's parents from Vicksburg where he was serving in the 1st Minnesota, Batt. 1st Division, 17th Army Corp. (2/19/1864); and a letter written by Jesse Elliott (brother of Absalom) from Toledo, Washington to his niece Mrs. Coleman--describes father's move from southern Indiana to Driftwood fork of the White River, building a fort, describes women fighting Indians, mentions the Pigeon Roost defeat and that father was in the War of 1812 (1/12/1908).
