Elliott Coues Divorce Suit, ca. 1864-1864.

Summary: A legal petition and supporting papers for a divorce for Elliott Coues and Sarah A. Richardson, directed to the Arizona Territorial Legislature in 1864. Since no law of divorce existed in Arizona Territory, a separation could be accomplished through an act of the Territorial Legislature. In addition to the petition, there is a separate supporting statement by Coues and four additional supporting letters.
