United States Corps d'Afrique muster roll, 1863.

On Sept. 4, 1863 a regiment, under the command of Colonel Alban B. Botsford, was organized at Port Hudson, La., as the 6th Regiment Infantry, Corps d'Afrique. Its designation was changed to 78th Regiment U.S. Colored Troops April 4,1864. The 78th and 98th regiments were consolidated Aug. 1, 1865, and mustered out of service Jan. 6, 1866. Muster roll for the 6th Infantry Regiment, Corps d'Afrique, under the command of Colonel Alban B. Botsford, lists officers, servants, and payroll for June 30-Aug. 30, 1863. Also documenting where, when and by whom officers were mustered into service. Noted at top of document, "1st Regt U.S. Vols or 6th Regt Corps d'Afrique".
