The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen was founded in 1883 in Oneonta, New York as a protective and insurance organization. By the time of its merger with three other railroad labor unions to form the United Transportation Union in 1969, it had the greatest membership of any of the operating railroad brotherhoods. Harry Dale Clark was born 29 July 1890 in Arkadelphia, Ark. He worked most of his life for the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company. He married Mamie Elizabeth Tenny in 1917 and their daughter, Mary Sue Clark, was born in 1920. The Clark family lived in Gurdon, Ark., until they moved to North Little Rock in 1932.
