Correspondence with Johan Thorsten Sellin, 1929-1934.

Materials relate to Sellin's role as advisory editor for Social science abstracts and to the report that Sellin wrote about the short life of the publication after it lost its support from the Social Science Research Council (U.S.) at the end of 1932. In addition to correspondence between Sellin and the other editors, includes numerous letters (1932-1933) from subscribers and scholars protesting the end of the publication. Primary correspondents include F. Stuart Chapin (editor-in-chief), Harold Hosea (sociology editor) and Robert Crane (executive director of the Social Science Research Council). Additional primary recipients are Social Science Research Council directors Carlton Hayes and Davis Dewey, associate editor Robert Woodbury, geographical editor Lois Olson, history editor H. C. Engelbrecht, and political science editor Laverne Burchfield.
