Minutes 1895-1962 [microform]

This series comprises handwritten and typewritten minutes of the Sister's Council of the Lutheran Deaconess Home and Training School, Baltimore, Maryland (BMD). The records date from 1895-1962 and include three bound notebooks of handwritten minutes and several folders of typewritten looseleaf minutes that appear to have been stored in a three-ring notebook. The three notebooks include minutes from 1895-1924. Large gaps appear between meeting dates, but no minutes are missing in these notebooks. These gaps are accounted for by the fact the Sister's Council did not meet for several months in the late spring, summer and early fall. As for gaps that occurred during the remainder of a calendar year, the reason is sometimes noted in the minutes. The reason most often cited was that there was no business for the Sister's Council to consider. Beginning in 1917 and continuing until the mid-1930s, the minutes are in the format of a report to the motherhouse executive committee. After the mid 1930s, minutes revert to a traditional format. Minutes from 1925-1962 are typewritten. Also included in this series are the secretary's copies of minutes from 1944-1959 and minutes of joint meetings between the BMD and the Philadelphia Motherhouse of Deaconesses (PMD) in 1958-1959. Records are arranged chronologically.
