The collection includes many original sketches and paintings for magazine illustrations as well as celebrity portraits (i.e., Eleanor Roosevelt, Mamie Eisenhower, Arlene Francis, Debbie Reynolds), landscapes and other subjects dating from 1935 to 1966. Contains also numerous tearsheets, proofs, negatives and contact prints for advertisements, short story illustrations and magazine covers dating from 1929 to the early 1960's. Includes negatives and contact prints, correspondence and publicity relating to the Famous Artists' School (1948-72); also includes tearsheets, negatives, contact prints, notes, publicity, clippings, contracts and other materials relating to his magazine column and books. Includes miscellaneous correspondence, working notes, sketches and photographs relating to various projects; also manuscripts, clippings and keepsakes from Whitcomb's school years. Includes scrapbooks dating from 1936 to 1983 relating to Whitcomb's career and travel; also navy photos and albums dating from 1942-45. Includes oil portraits of family and friends; also photos and designs for Plexiglas sculptures and architectural projects dating from the 1970's.
