Correspondence, bills and receipts, memoranda, deeds, plats, legal papers, abstracts, and extracts from birth and baptism registers with affidavits, all concerning the changing ownership of the farm lands of John Jekyll located in Stow and Boxborough, Mass. Includes 2 small vols. of agency accounts (1779-88) kept by the agents who managed the property for Jekyll's heirs, scattered during the Revolution because of their Loyalist leanings, many returning to England. The bulk of the collection concerns the search for and verification of the heirs, along with the maintenance of the property. The principal agents were Henry Gardner, Joseph Gardner, Herman Brimmer, and Martin Brimmer. There are also notes and memoranda kept by James Sullivan, who was involved in the legal aspects of ownership of the property.
