William L. Warren collection, 1719-1888.

Correspondence, financial records, estate and other legal records and deeds of Connecticut families and individuals of the 18th and 19th centuries. Includes deeds and estate records of Henry Harland of Norwich, the estate records of Isaac and Prudence Kimball of Preston, correspondence of James and Joshua Lasell of Scotland, papers of Stephen Post of Norwich, bills to Joshua Powers of Lyme from Elisha Way, and deeds of the Beach family (most belonging to Enos Beach), Julius Deming and Lynde Lord of Litchfield. Of note is a letter from Matthew Griswold to his sister Mary Ely in 1828, a 1759 letter from Luke Washburn while stationed at Fort Edward, NY during the French and Indian war, and summonses issued to witnesses in a case between Benedict Arnold and Joshua White to be held in Norwich in 1752. The collection also includes samples of two paper watermarks.
