Louis Conrad Rosenberg (1890-1983) was born in Portland, Or. He studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1914, and became instructor and later professor of architectural design at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He served in the U.S. Army from 1917-1919, and upon his return to the U.S. married Marie Louise Allen of Portland. Bertha E. Jaques served as treasurer and secretary of the Chicago Society of Etchers for twenty-seven years, an organization that she helped to found after moving to Chicago in 1883. Internationally known for her etchings of plant life, Jaques wrote several books including poetry, and was active in the Arts Club, Cordon Club, Wild Flower Preservation Society, and Audubon Society. Ruel Pardee Tolman (1878-1954) was a painter, etcher, writer, and was working in a museum in Washington, D.C., during the time these cards were received. His wife Nelly Summerhill McKenzie Tolman (1877-1961), a native of North Carolina, was a miniature painter. (Both are listed in Who was Who in American Art.) They had a daughter named Sarah.
