Brown County, Texas, civic leader and businessman. Born in 1845. Came to Brownwood, Texas, in the 1870s and was associated with the Coggin Brothers, in both their cattle and banking interests. Residents of Brown County, Texas, as early as 1857, the brothers Samuel R. and Moses J. Coggin had ranching interests in Brown, Coleman, Comanche and Brewster counties. They also had banking interests in Brownwood and mining interests in Idaho with Henry Ford of Brownwood, and a ranching partnership with Frank Collinson.
