D. Wyatt Aiken autobiography, 1828-1851.

Account of Aiken's early years, written circa 1864 while he was serving in the Confederate Army. The narrative covers his childhood, including his education at Mt. Zion Academy, Winnsboro, S.C.; his attendance at South Carolina College, 1846-1849; his teaching at Mount Zion, 1850; a long illness; courtship; and travels in England, the Continent, and the southern, eastern and midwestern United States, 1848-1851.
