Dean Acheson, U.S. Secretary of State, born Dean Gooderham Acheso, in Middletown, Connecticut, on April 11, 1893. After being educated at Yale University (1912-1915) and Harvard Law School (1915-18) he became private secretary to the Supreme Court Justice, Louis Brandeis from 1919 to 1921. Walt Bailey was a chemistry professor and founder of the "Wyoming Mountaineers" climbing club at Casper College. He passed away in 1958 from high altitude pulmonary edema while climbing Alpamayo in Peru. Since his passing there has been a mountain (Walt Bailey Peak in the Wyoming Wind River Range) and a climbing route (Walt Bailey Memorial Route on Devil's Tower) named in his honor.
