Ezra Bennett family papers, 1818-1881.

Papers consist chiefly of correspondence of Bennett family members including Ezra Bennett, Sarah P. Eldred Bennett, their son, Frank Marion Bennett, and their daughter-in-law, Columbia Phelps Bennett. Letters comment on social and economic conditions in the Bayou Boeuf region, the Civil War and Reconstruction in Louisiana and economic conditions in Texas during and after the Civil War. Some Civil War letters were written from Port Hudson and Camp Pratt in Louisiana. Papers include slave bills of sale and other plantation records.
